A 4am start on Woodbury Common to capture the sunrise.

We all know the best time to take pictures is the hour after sunrise and the hour before sunset as the shadows are long and the light is a 'gold' colour which is why we refer to it as 'Golden Hour'. We all also know that during the middle of summer the sun rises at around 4:30-5am which meant I had a very early start to get up onto Woodbury Common just outside Exeter to set up my cameras. It was well worth it though.

We captured the golden glow over the horizon and even better watched the low mist roll over the hills. We had a long 11 hours on our feet filming all the different events going on including a tractor ride, Heath Wildlife tours and a wood carving workshop.

It's always great to film these events as there are always smiling faces and you really have to get stuck into the events to get the best shots even if it means jumping on the tractor to capture what the passengers are seeing.

The film was a 'post event' summary video that will mostly be used in the run up to the 2018 Heath Week. We got some really good feedback on the video and is still one of our most viewed. We look forward to making the next one!
