Here’s a selection of PR and publicity photographs I produced for Cavanna Homes new show home at King’s Orchard in Stoke Gabriel in South Devon.
I prefer to photograph houses when the weather is good knowing that I’m going to get a good dose of natural light or ‘God’s light’ as I like to call it. I just don’t think you can beat it, lovely natural light flooding through the windows and filling the room a lovely homely feel.
Good weather means there is a nice blue sky and that helps gives the exterior shots a lovely feel too – yes, I know you can replace a grey looking sky in photoshop with a blue one but it just doesn’t give the pictures the same feel – sorry Adobe!
Each show home is different and I love the challenge of bringing the interior designer’s vision to life and producing a set of pictures that can be used across all media, whether it be in print or online.
It’s important to work fast and compact because the show homes are the house builders show piece and are constantly busy with visitors. However, one of my most important pieces of equipment is a Bluetooth speaker, as listening to my favourite music while I work inspires me and keeps me focused – excuse the pun!
While I waited for the sun to move round so I could photograph the front of the show home and not wanting to miss out on the beautiful late afternoon sun, I popped down to the quay at Stoke Gabriel to shoot some location images for the clients website – an added extra and all part of the service!
